PROPERTY TAX DEDUCTIONS

Property tax deductions for seniors, veterans and disabled persons as compiled by the NJ State Division of Taxation.

*Note: Not all forms at the above link are applicable to Rutherford residents. Call the Rutherford Tax Collector’s office with any questions.

Veterans are entitled to a $250.00 per year property tax deduction. Applications are available in the Tax Office. Completed applications must be accompanied by a copy of the Veteran’s DD-214.

Senior Citizens (65 years of age or older) and disabled individuals can receive a $250.00 per year property deduction, which is also income dependent. Individuals interested in receiving this deduction are required to complete an application to determine eligibility. Applications are available in the Tax Office.

REMINDER

If you are receiving a Senior Citizen or Disabled Individual, $250.00 property tax deduction, you will receive in January of each year a post annual tax year statement. The completed statement must be returned by March 1st or the deduction will be removed.

The State of New Jersey currently has two programs available for eligible residents:
