Rutherford Police Department Announces “Safety Sticks” Installation
Parking enforcement devices known as “Safety Sticks” have been installed on areas of Park Avenue and will be operational Monday, November 17th.
Safety Sticks are a highly visible solution that monitor for parking violations 24/7/365 and take photographs of illegally parked vehicles in
“No Parking” zones.
When a violation occurs, the device captures a photo, including the date, time, and location, providing clear evidence of the incident. Once Rutherford Police personnel review and approve the evidence, a summons is mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.
Future Safety Sticks will be deployed at Station Square, Orient Way and Union Ave.
Vehicles illegally parked on yellow curbs near crosswalks and intersections create hazards for both pedestrians and motorists. These Safety Sticks have been installed in an effort to prevent illegal parking and to increase safety. The Rutherford Police Department will also continue to monitor our business districts and take the appropriate enforcement action for other parking and moving violations.
The Rutherford Police Department is committed to providing a safe community for all. Once operational on November 17th, they will begin photographing violations and Rutherford Officers will be mailing out summonses.
