Clean Up From the June 6 Storm

June 7^th, 2026

Last night, Rutherford and the surrounding area experienced a brief but powerful storm. Insley Ave, Edgewood Place and Hackett Place experienced the most damage, but downed tree branches remain throughout the Borough. 

Clean up work will continue in the morning to allow our DPW crews to get much needed rest, as they were working through the night. 

On behalf of the Borough, I would like to thank Borough employees from the Police Department, Building Department, Department of Public Works and the Volunteer Fire Department for their extraordinary work throughout the night.

I personally want to thank Fire Chief Chris Branca, Police Chief John Russo, DPW Superintendent Chris Seidler and Construction Official Connor Fox for their diligence in managing the situation and affected families. 

Please be mindful and patient during school drop off in the morning as crews will be out working.
